From design to fabrication, Volumaker turns your ideas into real parts with 3D printing. Based in Quebec City, we serve clients across Canada.
01 — Services
Solutions tailored to your projects.
All our parts are made by FDM 3D printing (fused deposition modeling). Learn about FDM technology
- 01
FDM 3D printing
Parts and objects produced from digital models by depositing molten filament.
- 02
Custom parts
Parts made to meet specific needs.
- 03
Prototyping
Prototypes that turn ideas into something you can hold and test.
02 — Technology
FDM 3D printing, layer by layer.
Volumaker makes its parts using FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), also known as fused filament fabrication. It is the most widely used 3D printing technology.
It is especially well suited to functional parts, prototypes and small batches, with no moulds or tooling required.
- 01
Slicing
Software cuts the 3D model into thin horizontal layers and calculates the path of the nozzle.
- 02
Melting
A plastic filament is heated in the nozzle until it becomes pliable.
- 03
Deposition
The nozzle lays down material line by line. Each layer fuses to the one below.
- 04
Finishing
The part is removed from the build plate and any supports are taken off.
Good to know: fine layer lines remain slightly visible on the surface; they are the signature of the process. The orientation of the part during printing also affects its strength.
03 — Applications
From idea to part.
A few examples of what FDM 3D printing can do.
- A.01
Functional parts
Components built for real-world use: mounts, enclosures or replacement parts.
- A.02
Prototypes
Physical models to validate a shape, an assembly or a concept before production.
- A.03
Custom holders and accessories
Holders, adapters and accessories designed around your dimensions and how you use them.
- A.04
Small batches
Limited production runs, with no mould required.

What to include in your email
To help us handle your request quickly, include at least one of the following:
3D file — STL, STEP, 3MF or OBJ.
Photos or sketches — From several angles, ideally with something for scale.
Dimensions — Length × width × height, even if approximate.
Detailed description — Intended use, mechanical or thermal requirements, desired finish.
Also tell us the quantity and turnaround you need. File too large to attach? Send a download link instead.
